ใครเทียบเรื่องแสงด้วยหน่วยวัตต์ (Watt)
 แสดงว่าไม่รู้เรื่องจริง ในเมื่อแสงที่ใช้ในการปลูกมีสเปคตรัมตั้งแต่อัลตร้าไวโอเลตถึงอินฟราเรด
ความสว่างของไฟปลูกจึงไม่สามารถวัดความสว่างได้
ฉะนั้นหน่วยวัด Lumens, LUX จึงถูกตัดออกไปเนื่องจากเป็นหน่วยวัดสำหรับแสงที่ตามนุษย์มองเห็นเท่านั้น
ซึ่งเราจะคุยกันที่มาตรวัดดังนี้
1. Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF)
เป็นการวัดจำนวนทั้งหมดของ PAR ที่โคมปล่อยออกมาใน 1 วินาที มีหน่วยเป็น µmol/s
2.Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density หรือที้่หลายๆคนได้ยินบ่อยๆว่าค่า (PPFD)
เป็นการวัดจำนวนทั้งหมดของ PAR ที่โคมปล่อยออกมาตกกระทบถึงพื้นผิวที่กำหนด (หรือ canopy) มีหน่วยวัดเป็น µmol/m2/s
*สิ่งที่ต้องระวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งคือผู้ผลิตมักอ้างความสว่าง PPFD เฉพาะตรงกลางของพื้นที่เท่านั้น ไม่ได้พูดถึง PPFD รอบพื้นที่ทั้งหมด
3. Photon Efficacy (PE)
เป็นการกล่าวถึงประสิทธิภาพของโคมไฟในการเปลี่ยนพลังงานไฟฟ้าเป็นแสง PAR ทั้งนี้โดยปกติผู้ผลิตมักระบุสเปคมาเป็น Watt หรือ Watt/sq.ft ซึ่งจริงๆแล้วไม่สามารถบอกอะไรได้เลย เนื่องจากวัดกำลังกินไฟเท่านั้น หากต้องการทราบประสิทธิภาพจริงๆต้องดูที่ PPF(µmol/s) / Watt (J/s) โดยมีหน่วยวัดคือ µmol/J โดยค่า PE ยิ่งมาก ยิ่งบงบอกว่าโคมมีประสิทธิภาพสูงในการเปลี่ยนพลังงานไฟฟ้าเป็นแสง PAR
แต่จะมั่นใจได้อย่างไรล่ะ ว่าไฟที่เราซื้อมาได้ค่า PPFD และ ค่าแสง Spectrum ในแต่ละช่วงสีแค่ไหน เราอาจจะต้องใช้เครื่องวัดแสงและสเปคตรัมราคา 4-5 หมื่นไหม? จะรู้ได้ไงว่าได้ตรงตามที่ผู้ผลิตแจ้ง?

Usually, manufacturers often specify the specification in Watt or Watt/sq.ft, which actually cannot tell anything at all. because the measure is only consuming power If you really want to know the efficiency, you need to look at PPF(µmol/s) / Watt (J/s), which is measured in µmol/J.
